Soheli Chowdhury, PhD
Assistant Research Scientist
Dr. Chowdhury is studying the role of inflammatory cytokines and MS pathogenesis, as well as the potential for protein biomarkers to help explain the mechanisms of pathogenesis. Dr. Chowdhury received her PhD in Biochemistry from University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK, and her BSc and MSc in Biochemistry from the University of Dhaka in Bangladesh.
Previously, Dr. Chowdhury was research associate at the MS Research & Treatment Center at Roosevelt Hospital from 1998-2006. She worked with Dr. Sadiq on differentiation of brain stem cells and cord blood derived stem cells into oligodendrocytes, neurons and astrocytes in culture, including differentiation of stem cells in the presence of MS cerebrospinal fluid, and effects of methotrexate on stem cell differentiation and the balance of pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines.
